9th Degree Black Belt

A world-renowned Taekwondo master from Korea and an undisputed authority on poomsae forms.

Grandmaster Jae Ro Ahn is a world-renowned and influential Taekwondo master from Korea who recently moved to the United States. Plainsboro is fortunate to have such a prestigious grandmaster in New Jersey. He holds a Kukkiwon Certified 9th Degree Black Belt and comes from a family of Taekwondo grandmasters — an older brother who holds a 9th degree black belt and a younger sister who holds an 8th degree black belt. With more than 50 years of martial arts experience, he is an undoubted expert of poomsae forms, having studied and analyzed the movements in extraordinary depth. Grandmaster Ahn holds a bachelor’s degree in Taekwondo from Kyung Hee University and a master’s degree in Taekwondo theory from Korea National Sport University. To keep Taekwondo relevant in the Olympics, he served on the research team that restructured the rules and regulations for modern poomsae competition. His newest chapter is Hongik E-Hwa, an international masters research center where he educates established Taekwondo masters to pass along the ideals and knowledge of authentic Taekwondo.

We look forward to welcoming you and your family to Ahn's Taekwondo. Thank you, Grandmaster Jae Ro Ahn

Director of Operations

4th Degree Black Belt

Director of Operations with 15 years of Taekwondo training, teaching across the program and coaching the Tournament Team.

Dr. Caitlin Lamb has trained in Taekwondo for 15 years and holds a 4th Degree Black Belt (Oh Do Kwan). She manages the office and day-to-day operations at Ahn’s Taekwondo in Plainsboro, teaches classes across the program and coaches the Tournament Team. Her background is in the sciences — chemistry and biology at Duke University, followed by a Ph.D. from Princeton University — and that training shaped how she teaches. A difficult technique is a lot like a difficult problem: break it into parts, find the piece that is actually holding the student back, and work on that piece until it holds. She teaches in progressions and gives a reason behind every correction, so students understand why a movement works instead of only copying its shape. Her part of the work is pedagogy. Grandmaster Ahn sets the content and the standard, and she works out how it is sequenced and delivered, so that training builds from one belt to the next. Coaching the Tournament Team asks for something different. Competition rewards precision under pressure, so training the technique is only half the work — the other half is producing it on demand, in front of judges, on a day when nerves are high. Her goal is for every competitor to come home having learned something, whatever the result.

Our Instructors

Highly qualified instructors dedicated to guiding you through your martial arts journey with expertise and passion.

Instructor Anagha Anish is a 17-year-old Junior Instructor and 2nd Degree Black Belt who began their Taekwondo journey at the age of nine. They originally joined to try something new, and it quickly became a huge part of their life. Along with being a member of the Leadership Team, they have spent several years on the Tournament Team and competed in numerous tournaments. One of the highlights of that journey was competing at the World Taekwondo Hanmadang in California, where they earned a gold medal in forms — an unforgettable experience alongside competitors from around the world. One of their favorite parts of the Leadership Team is assisting in classes as a Junior Instructor. They enjoy working with students and helping them build confidence while improving their skills, and find it amazing to watch a student grow throughout their own Taekwondo journey.

Instructor Abinandan Senthilkumaran — known to students as “Sen” — is a Junior Instructor and 2nd Dan black belt at Ahn’s Taekwondo, with 10 years of Taekwondo training. What they value most about leadership is the chance to grow not only their own skills but the skills of others. Being able to use your skills to help someone else, in their words, is the true essence of teaching.

Instructor Rocky Lu has been practicing Taekwon-Do for about nine years and is a 2nd Degree Black Belt and Junior Instructor at Ahn’s Taekwondo, and competes on the school’s Tournament Team. Their goal as an instructor is to guide students toward their own goals in Taekwondo and to help them keep improving.

Instructor Nikita Agarwal is a student and instructor at Ahn’s Taekwondo in Plainsboro, a 1st Degree Black Belt and an Assistant Instructor. Training began at the age of seven, with a 1st Degree Black Belt at 10 and an assistant instructor role at 13. The dojang, as they put it, is a second home. Teaching taught them as much as training did. Learning the curriculum across all levels — and then learning how to teach it, with a different kind of power and a different kind of skill each time — is what built the confident, responsible person they are today, along with perseverance, courage and leadership. Their biggest takeaway from Taekwondo is not defense or attacking, but the way it builds a strong mind. It is not an easy sport; it asks for real mental and physical effort. That is exactly why they see students grow into more confident, hardworking and motivated people.

Instructor Varshitaa Perlinraj is a 1st Degree Black Belt and Assistant Instructor who has trained in Taekwondo for seven years. In that time they have served on both the Tournament Team and the Leadership Team, and performed a demonstration form at the 2026 Princeton Open Tournament alongside their peers. Those years were genuinely enjoyable ones, and they changed them as a person — more attentive, more disciplined and more focused, in class and outside of it. The biggest change came from joining the Leadership Team. They started out shy and quiet, and as they progressed and built relationships they grew more confident, more involved and more comfortable with their leadership responsibilities. Going forward, they want to keep strengthening themselves and grow both as a competitor and as a person.

Instructor Karon Joseph is 17 years old and an Assistant Instructor at Ahn’s Taekwondo. Over the past seven years, training in Taekwondo has completely shaped who they are today — the dedication it asked for earned them their Second Degree Black Belt and gave them the chance to give back to others. Today they love helping younger students build confidence as they work toward their own goals. They also push their own physical limits as an active competitor on the Tournament Team, having competed in tournaments from New York to California, and being part of STORM lets them step up as a leader and role model in the dojang. What keeps them coming back every day is the supportive community built here, and the life skills learned on the mat continue to help them succeed in everything they do outside of Taekwondo.

Instructor Nivaa Sisodia is a 2nd Degree Black Belt who has been part of the Leadership Team for three years and became an Assistant Instructor last year. Taekwondo has always held a special place in their heart, and one of their favorite parts of it is being able to share that feeling with others. They have practiced Taekwondo for nearly 10 years, seven of those years at Ahn’s Taekwondo in Plainsboro. They love forms and sparring, but they especially enjoy teaching, because it lets them help students have fun, grow more confident and discover what makes Taekwondo special to them. Having learned so much from their own time at Ahn’s, they hope to create the same fun, supportive and exciting environment that makes them love coming to class every day.

Instructor Hunter Sia is 15 years old, a 1st Degree Black Belt and an Assistant Instructor at Ahn’s Taekwondo. They started Taekwondo at the age of seven and trained up to their purple belt before moving in 2020 and continuing their journey at Ahn’s Taekwondo. They have been on many of the school’s teams (Demo, Elite Form twice, and STORM), all of which improved their Taekwondo and taught them endurance and confidence. Of every school they have trained at, Ahn’s has been the best, and their years here have taught them more about themselves than anything else has.

Instructor Nihal Musunuru is a 2nd Degree Black Belt and Assistant Instructor at Ahn’s Taekwondo. They are 14 and have been training for eight years. They joined because they were told to, and quickly discovered how fun and how challenging Taekwondo could be. Their goal as an Assistant Instructor is to make sure students keep growing and developing, to build up their skills, and to help out whenever help is needed.

Alumni / Former Instructors

Instructors who grew up on our mats and helped shape the school along the way.

Surya Bhattu is a 1st Degree Black Belt at Ahn’s Taekwondo, where they trained on the Tournament Team and took part in the Instructor Program. They started Taekwondo at the age of 10, and it has been one of the most significant parts of their life ever since. They are currently studying Electrical Engineering at Rutgers University. The years in the dojang brought a great many experiences and friendships, but what mattered most were the skills it taught: discipline, concentration, perseverance and confidence. Those have come in handy in every part of their life, academics included. They are excited about the next phase ahead, though they know for certain there are things about Taekwondo they will never forget.
